Reverse circulation drilling rig selected by customers
For the high temperature and drought environment in Burkina Faso, YG launched the “Sahara Edition” RC drilling rig, the core configuration includes:
- High-temperature resistant design: enhanced cooling system, continuous operation without frequency reduction under 55℃ working conditions;
- Anti-sand upgrade: three-stage air filter, the service life in a dusty environment is extended by 3 times;
- Power enhancement: turbocharged diesel engine, torque 12,000N·m, drilling speed of 4 meters/hour (hard rock);
- Quick disassembly and assembly: modular structure, complete machine transfer assembly in 6 hours.
- Typical customer: A medium-sized gold mining company in Ouagadougou purchased 2 RC-450Hs for intensified exploration and reserve assessment.

Background of customer purchase of reverse circulation drilling rig
A foreign-funded mining company carried out a resource expansion plan in the Houndé gold mining belt. The original drilling rig had an average daily footage of only 35 meters, which could not meet the goal of completing 500 exploration holes within 6 months.
YG Solution
- Provide 4 RC-450H drilling rigs with French operating interface;
- Customize φ200mm drill bits to adapt to high quartz content formations;
- Train 15 local operators and establish an on-site maintenance station.
Project Results
- The average daily footage increased to 90 meters, and the exploration was completed 2 months ahead of schedule;
- The error of gold grade analysis of rock cuttings samples was reduced from 8% to 2%;
- Customer evaluation: “The stability of the YG drilling rig far exceeded expectations and helped us lock in 3 high-grade veins!”
Advantages of YG’s reverse circulation drilling machine
- Ultra-long life: Key components (such as drill rods and impactors) are made of German steel with a life of 8,000 hours (the industry average is 5,000 hours);
- Energy saving and consumption reduction: Intelligent power matching system, diesel consumption is reduced by 20%;
- Accurate data: Integrated automatic cuttings collection device, sample representative rate ≥ 95%;
- Flexible expansion: Optional mud pump module to cope with complex hydrological formations.
Why does Burkina Faso buy RC drilling equipment?
As an emerging gold producer in West Africa, Burkina Faso’s gold mine output accounts for more than 10% of GDP, but traditional drilling equipment faces three major challenges:
- Hard rock penetration is difficult: granite formations account for more than 60% of the mining area, and the compressive strength reaches 250MPa;
- High sampling error: Manual operation leads to misjudgment of gold grade and loss of potential benefits;
- High operation and maintenance costs: European imported equipment is expensive, and the waiting period for accessories is as long as 3 months.
Therefore, local mining companies are in urgent need of reverse circulation drills (RC drills) with high cost-effectiveness, strong adaptability and localized services to quickly verify mineral reserves.
